SCORM video watermark

Video and PDF packages built with Xakar can display learner details over the playback area. You turn it on per package, and the values shown come from whatever learner data the LMS passes in.

What appears on screen

The learner's name, their learner ID in parentheses, and below that the date and time down to the minute. Name and ID are read from the learner data the LMS supplies over SCORM (cmi.learner_name and cmi.learner_id). If the LMS supplies no value, a placeholder takes its place.

It moves every 10 seconds

The mark jumps to a random position inside the playback area every 10 seconds, and the time it shows updates with it. Because it does not sit in one place, covering a corner of the screen is not enough to push it out of frame. A screen recording captures the mark along with the video.

The same in video and PDF

Video packages and PDF packages use the same watermark. You switch it on or off per item in the packaging screen, and it is saved alongside the other playback settings such as seek restriction and pause on tab switch.

What if our LMS does not send learner names?

When the LMS passes no learner data over SCORM, a placeholder stands in for the name and ID while the date and time still appear. What ends up on screen depends on your LMS configuration.

Can a learner remove the watermark?

The watermark is drawn by the player inside the package. A learner comfortable with browser developer tools can hide elements on the page, and this feature does not prevent that. Treat it as something that shows up in ordinary playback, not as a barrier.

Can I use the rest without the watermark?

Yes. It is a per-item switch at packaging time. Turning it off leaves seek restriction, progress saving and the other features working as they are.
